About Queer Liberation Society

QUEER LIBERATION SOCIETY MANIFESTO

As a group of radical queer activists, it is important that we do not sugarcoat or play-down the importance of the work we wish to do.

  1. LANGUAGE

‘Queer’ as a term will be used in its political meaning, as an act of reclamation and resistance to the cishetero-patriarchy that has governed our language and speech for centuries. As ACT UP wrote in their 1990 ‘Queer Nation Manifesto’, “Using ‘Queer’ is a way of reminding us how we are perceived by the rest of the world. It's a way of telling ourselves we don't have to be witty and charming people who keep our lives discreet and marginalized in the straight world.”

  1. INCLUSION

Excluding others for how they choose to self-label is inherently anti-liberation and a tactic of right wing + fascist groups to divide leftist revolutionaries amongst ourselves.

  1. LIBERATION

There is no Queer liberation without disabled liberation. There is no Queer liberation without liberation from capitalism. There is no Queer liberation without Black liberation. There is no Queer liberation without liberation from borders. There is no Queer liberation without sex worker liberation.

  1. ANGER

Anger is a tool. Anger is our weapon. Anger is necessary. If you’re not pissed off, you’re not paying attention.

  1. EDUCATION

Queer theory and ideology should be accessible to all, nobody should hoard or gatekeep knowledge.

“YOU AS AN ALIVE AND FUNCTIONING QUEER ARE A REVOLUTIONARY”
