Candidate for the position of Central Saint Martins (CSM) Officer

Putting student experience centre stage. Vote Minna your FIRST choice!

Hi, I’m Minna Ellis, BA Fine Art graduate and your current CSM Officer! I’ve worked on campaigns for 8+ months to make your student experience better than mine was, as well as working on CSM and UAL events and liberation periods.  

I stand for championing underrepresented voices and making UAL more affordable.  

What I’ve already achieved:  

  • Co-led on a food poverty campaign to provide 400 food parcels and 70 free dinners to students on UAL financial support, with CCW officer 

  • Co-ran a Cost of Study event, providing free art materials to 200 students on UAL financial support, with Student Communities officer 

  • Led on a campaign on improving crits at UAL 
  • Ran a Wellness pop-up event at CSM for Mental Health Day and co-ran a LGBTQ+ cinema student film screening event
  • Successfully lobbied UAL to provide free period products to students (+ staff) at all UAL campuses, as well as SU offices 
  • Chaired the first ever Students and Head of College Gathering, discussing community at CSM 

 

 Please re-elect me so I can:  

  • Continue our Cost-of-Living campaign. How will I do this? Continue the free food and art material events. Lobby UAL to reduce art shop and canteen prices and introduce a housing guarantor scheme 

  • Continue our Safe Crits campaign. How? Lobby UAL to create guides for staff and students on how to conduct a safe crit. Make UAL implement this in their anti-racism and decolonisation strategies. Share best practice through our own SU crits and to continue to link with other art schools (the RA and RCA) 

  • Continue to build a partnership with Queer Britain Museum. How? Run social events and propose professional development opportunities   
  • Build student communities at CSM, creating spaces of multi-disciplinary creativity and collaboration. How? By feeding into plans for collaborative PG Units and lobby UAL for the same provision at UG and FE level. Involve the SU at PG socials and work closely with Changemaker projects.
