Hi! My name is David Povilaika (he/him), I am a third year Design Management student.
For the past year, I have been working with the students’ union as a communications assistant and photographer. I got to see the union from behind the scenes and spot the things that work and things that don’t. But most importantly, I got the opportunity to meet people from all across the university. And I learned one thing: we all want to be better represented, heard, and included. I am passionate about making that happen. I want to ensure that your union represents you and does what you need it to do. It should not be another additional organization, it should be our organization.
If elected, I will work to:
-
Create a simpler way for you to talk to your union. The students’ union is a democratic body and should follow your views, complaints, and ideas regularly. This is the only way we, the students, get to build the future of our university.
-
Put a system in place to hold courses and their leaders accountable for ignoring requests and problems brought up by students and course representatives. Under this system, the union will intervene if the issues are left unanswered.
-
Grow the community of students that are part of the union. It is time we all benefit from the best our union has to offer.
-
Create new opportunities for students to be part of building the union that works for all of us. Everyone should be able to get involved in the building of our union, all the way from events to democratic systems.
-
Grow the number of networking events and industry opportunities to develop your own connections for the post-university world.
It’s Our Voice, Our Union. We should be in charge of it. Vote David to build the union that works for you.
