Event Title: Post-Grad Community X Arts SU’s Cheese & Wine Mixer

Date: Thursday 17 September 2026

Time: 4.30pm to 7.30pm

Venue: Darkroom Bar, London College of Communication

Post-Grad Community and Arts SU welcome all new UAL postgraduate students to a cheese and wine mixer taking place at the Darkroom Bar.

This event is open to postgraduate students from all UAL colleges and institutes. Attendance is free, along with complementary cheese and a drink for all ticket holders, with vegan and non-alcoholic soft drink options also available.

You’ll have the chance to meet postgraduates from different courses and hear about how the Post-Grad Community platform works for UAL students and what it can do for your journey, during and after, your studies. It’s a great way to connect with UAL’s wider creative network, find other opportunities and break the ice during your first week at UAL.

Darkroom Bar

This event will be held in the Darkroom Bar at London College of Communication. To find the Darkroom bar, go through the main gates past the staircase toward the wide corridor next to Lecture theatre C. 

Post-Grad Community

Established in 2013, Post-Grad Community is an inclusive platform for all UAL postgraduate students to share work, find opportunities and connect with other creatives within the UAL and beyond. Find out more.

London College of Communication is located close to central London in Elephant and Castle. The College is based on a single site within easy reach of various parts of the city, and is well-served by Underground, bus and rail networks. Find out more about getting here on Find Us page.

Filming and photography

Please note that filming and photography may be taking place at this event. Both bigger crowds, smaller groups and individuals may be captured on camera. All imagery and footage may at some point be published on the College website, social media channels, and in print.

This event is for UAL students only, a UAL ID card will be needed to enter the site and attend.

The Arts SU Welcome Fair is back and we’re expecting another BIG day!

New or current UAL students only

10-11am for Quiet Hour Bookings

What is it?

The annual Welcome Fair is your time to discover new communities through the Students’ Union sports clubs and societies. It’s also the best way to introduce yourself to the main services provided by UAL that you’ll need to know throughout your time studying here. Alongside this, the Students’ Union invites local and international organisations and businesses onto campus that bring giveaways, competitions and freebies for all students that attend. So, whether you're searching for a club or society to join, looking to find out more information on the Students' Union and student-led campaigns, or simply searching for discounts and offers, you're at the right place!

Who can attend?

The Welcome Fair is completely FREE and open to all UAL students - not just new students. Whether you're starting your first year, returning for another, studying at undergraduate or postgraduate level, or based at any UAL college, you're invited.

What’s new this year?

In response to the year-on-year increase in attendees, this year, we’re introducing free tickets so that everyone gets the opportunity to attend and experience the fair in a relaxed and timely manner. No more long waiting indefinitely in the queue. Pick your time slot, turn up and enjoy the fair!

We’ve also extended the event time by two hours to ensure that there is ample time for all who wish to attend. Our quiet hour remains the same (10am – 11am) which is designated as a quiet/access hour for those students who need some additional space and quiet in order to enjoy the event. Music is turned off to help create a more calming environment and we ask students to keep noise levels low. We encourage only those who may prefer this type of visit to book this time slot.

How does the ticketing work?

Tickets are free to book via Eventbrite. Each hour has an allocated number of tickets and once those are all booked, that time slot will no longer be available to book online. Should your preferred time slot be fully booked, please select another time slot.

Further Information
We understand that some attendees may not be able to stand in the queue for a long period of time and so we advise those students to inform the Students' Union team upon arrival, so that we can accommodate your entrance into the fair. This event is for UAL students only however should you wish to bring a carer, need support due to a medical condition or would like to attend with a parent or friend, please email events@su.arts.ac.uk with the name of your additional guest by 5pm, Thursday 24th September.

Whether you’re joining us for the pre-party or carrying on to the club later, come down, grab a drink and get the night started with the crew. Entry to the pre-party is completely free, so come along, meet up with friends and soak up the atmosphere before we head to the next venue.
