Last Year UAL Veg was awarded the Best New Society in the SUARTS Community Awards. We are proud to be part of such a great growing community of people who want to help save our planet, bring peace and live with compassion. This is an inclusive society who welcome everyone aboard no matter how far into their lifestyle change they are! Being in the heart of London is great for animal activism, participating in environmentalist marches whilst educating the public has been really rewarding. Veganism rejects all violence against sentient beings and that they have a right to life and freedom, which is why the society would like to get people more active and involved with the community. This would be achieved through volunteering at animal sanctuaries, holding charity exhibitions as well as debates and discussions, which will enrich the society. Having connections within and outside of London as well as abroad will allow the society to explore different cultures through spreading veganism. Working with local businesses has enabled the society to receive discounts on products and hold social events in some really great venues.
The aim is to share the vegan/veggie message, educate and assist others in their transition as well as meeting likeminded people (and eating lots of delicious food!). Furthermore, showing others how easy this lifestyle is to maintain and to break vegan stereotypes. The vegan community is greatly growing within London and the ideal is for it to become more inclusive. This will be achieved through organising events and socials that are both relaxing and engaging, therefore opening our society up further.
