Welcome to the Arts SU FUN(d)RACE!   


What is it? 

A virtual race for UAL students, alumni and staff to join from anywhere in the world! This is an opportunity for the wider UAL community to come together and inspire each other, all while raising funds for the important work done by The Free Black University project. 

There are many ways to participate, you don't have to run - you could walk, use a bicycle, skateboard, wheelchair, or even knit your way to the finish line. There is a special prize to win for the most creative race! 

All profits will be donated to The Free Black University 

When: Complete your race anytime between 5th - 24th October 2020 

Where: Anywhere in the world!

How do I join? 

Step 1. Pick your challenge 

Click here to register for the race. 

There are four race distances you can pick from - 5K, 10K, 15k or 20K - and each can be completed as a single or cumulative total, which means you can take as many days as you need between 5th-24th October to complete your challenge. 

You can be as creative as you wish in the way you complete your race - if you can think it, you can do it! For example, you could find out the average time needed to run a 5k race, and use the time to create something of your choice. 

(Please note that if you pick the '£7.10 with a medal' option, £2.10 will go towards covering the cost of production, ordering and delivery of the medal, and the remaining £5 will be donated to The Free Black University. If you choose the ‘£5 without a medal’ option, all of the amount will be donated to The Free Black University.) 

You can choose as many challenges as you wish! If you would like to increase your donation, you can do so by adding multiple '£5 without a medal' tickets to your cart. All profits will be donated to charity no matter whether you complete all your races or not.  

Step 2. Race at your pace! 

Once you’ve registered, you can complete your challenge anytime between 5th - 24th October, covering your chosen distance in however many sessions as you like, wherever you like, whenever you like! We even have a custom playlist to help you stay motivated ??

And don’t forget to take a photo! You can send it to artsactive@su.arts.ac.uk or tag us @arts.activities and use the hashtag #artsfundrace if you would like to be featured on our social media pages. 

Once you’ve successfully completed your race, you will receive a digital certificate and/or a medal as proof of your achievement! 

Step 3. Submit your evidence 

At the end of the challenge, you will receive an email from us asking whether or not you’ve completed your challenge. You will have to provide evidence as proof of your achievement, but do not worry - it’s pretty easy! Click here to find out how to submit your evidence. 

Step 4. Enter the competition for the Most Creative Race Award! 

Would you like to be considered for the Most Creative Race Award? Just let us know when you submit your race evidence. Special prize to be announced soon! 

Step 5. Get your medal and certificates! 

Once you’ve submitted your race evidence, we’ll quickly review everything, and send you your certificate via email! If you’ve selected the option ‘with a medal’, we will also let you know as soon as your medal has been dispatched. 

Please note that we can deliver medals to the UK only (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland). If you are not currently able to receive post in the UK, we can store your medal for collection at the Arts SU office in High Holborn - just let us know when you purchase your ticket.
