Intersectional feminism is described by Kimberlé Crenshaw (the professor of law who coined the term) as, “a prism for seeing the way in which various forms of inequality often operate together and exacerbate each other [...] We tend to talk about race inequality as separate from inequality based on gender, class, sexuality or immigrant status. What’s often missing is how some people are subject to all of these, and the experience is not just the sum of its parts”.
Through creating a safe community we want to educate and advocate for intersectional feminism, placing intersectionality as the standard for all feminisms. We aim to share knowledge about current social and political issues by creating discussions around these and sharing resources to help those effected.
We are going to hold reading groups, exhibition visits, collective craft activities, films screenings as well as share resources and overall create a safe space for everyone.
