We deserve an equally inspiring and supportive education.
Hi!
I am Alisa an LCC final year BA Animation student.
My creative practice is rooted by art, games and fictional spaces. This practice informs my interest around activism and education. Throughout my degree I have recognised varies instances that have impeded student learning, one of the significant causes that I observed is around communications. Considering how the world has changed during COVID, I believe, that every student should feel inspired to perform their best at creative and academic practices. To achieve this, we need to ensure that the communication between students and staff is at its optimum.
As a student I have designed learning experiences in different ways, which include raising the quality of communications by educating students and tutors on active listening. I implied this system while working as a Game Methologist for English Club and organising children’s camp sessions. My practice covered creation of safe spaces that facilitate positive moods of communication. For example, I created safe space to share art in the UAL Life Drawing Society as the President. Moreover, I enhanced the culture of student experience while being an LCC Officer. My campaign has educated students and staff on the effective communication. My main focus is in increasing the interaction quality of teaching and learning processes.
My experience and passion make me a perfect fit for the Education Officer position. I identify three main weaknesses in UAL education, which I would improve:
- Communication
- Safe spaces
- Inspirational studio culture
Solutions to this issues draw on the following methods:
- Ensuring motive communication
- Establishing a course culture for every year of students
- Collaborate with staff to develop innovative teaching and learning strategies
By representing student’s interest, championing the improving the teaching and learning experience for both sides I aim to make education the equal experience for everyone.
