Vote Trans Rights. Vote Equality. VOTE VIKTOR NUS LIBERATION DELEGATE.
My name is Viktor and I’m a trans non-binary student on the Foundation course at Camberwell.
Being trans, I’m intimately familiar with the struggles and concerns the transgender community experiences in education. When elected for this role I hope to enact change that will positively impact many trans students to come.
I aim to:
The current register is insensitive to trans students, unnecessarily featuring their deadname. We need a register where the preferred name overrides the legal name, and includes a pronouns column.
As it stands queer students don’t have a dedicated place to meet other queer students. I hope to unite with delegates from other UAL campuses to establish a functioning LGBTQ+ society.
I want to get involved with staff training to address this issue at its core by creating materials that can be reused and are updated by future trans students to reflect our changing social climate.
This should be freely available, in the form of a brochure.
Additionally I want to propose a student-led newsletter that supports LGBTQ+ artists, both historical and contemporary.
We have one gender neutral bathroom at Wilson Rd, but it would be better if we had more. Making toilets inclusive would mean ensuring sanitary bins are in the mens toilets and establishing a place for students to access free sanitary products.
And more! As well as taking on board all other points and concerns you may have. Taking into account intersectionality is incredibly important, and I will push for change alongside and/or on behalf of communities/minorities I’m not part of.
With my years of experience doing public speaking and talking to staffing bodies about trans issues, you can be assured that when you vote for me you’re electing a qualified spokesperson that’s ready to do everything in their power to make UAL a more accommodating place.
Make your voice heard.
