Hello, I’m Sebastian George, a third-year journalism BA student. For the last year, I have worked as a change marker, a program run at LCC to decolonise the university. This work has given me first-hand experience working with students and staff to improve the quality of education at LCC. It has also made me aware of how much more work is needed to improve students’ learning at the university as a whole. This is why I have decided to run for Education officer. 

My goals as Education Officer: 

• closing the attainment gap between students 

• decolonising the curriculum 

• making the university more accessible to disabled students and providing more support for mental health

• creating a safer environment for LGBTQ students, especially trans and non-binary students 

As Education Officer, I would work with programs like the change markers, course reps, and students alike to improve the education at UAL. To achieve my goals I would have more training on mental health, disabilities, and the LGBTQ community as well as bringing the change marker program to all the colleges.
