Let me use my voice to empower yours!
Hi! I’m Rachel (she/her)
I’m a former LCC Screenwriting postgraduate international student, originally from America!
Working as a student Changemaker with LCC, has pushed me to fight to expand my decolonization work as an Education Officer across the UAL school community.
As a Changemaker, i’ve worked closely with the LCC course reapproval process by meeting with course leaders, students and deans, to have open communication about decolonization and start to build tangible change in the way courses are structured at UAL.
I’m passionate about improving the academic experience for all students and have developed an intimate knowledge and foundation through my work with LCC, on how to do so.
If elected, I will work to do the following at UAL:
- Challenge the current infrastructure of systems that no longer work, in terms of decolonization, by fighting for diverse student needs and working to reframing UAL’s current academic structure so it reflects all students.
- Lobby to have LCC’s Student Changemaker program expanded across UAL schools.
- Fight to ensure the academic experience supports international and home student post degree employability by lobbying for diverse staff, guest lecturers, and networking events across all of UAL’s courses.
- Help ensure the academic experience supports students developing diverse creative identities and prepares them for entering the industry of their chosen practice, especially during these difficult pandemic times.
As a diverse student who was empowered through participation, I understand the student experience first hand and I have the proven experience to both build relationships with UAL decision makers and advocate for diverse students like myself and across the UAL community.
Vote Rachel because I am ready to Rethink, Rebuild, and Reframe the educational experience at UAL for the benefit all students, let me use my voice to empower yours!
