Hello! My name is Haley and I moved to the UK in Fall 2019 for my foundation year. I am now a Year 2 BA Fashion Photography student as well as a course rep + UAL/LCF student ambassador! I believe that growing up as a woman in Chicago and having Dyslexia and ADHD has given me the empathy needed to listen to all students.
After 2020, we all want things to return 'back to normal' but after what we have learned and uncovered the past two years; we cannot return to normal.
The goal is to amplify and fortify marginalized voices so that no one is left behind in our fight for equity. It is easy to think that we have no power over these things but we cannot let our voices be silenced by greed and/or willful ignorance. We must move forward, expecting MORE than the bare minimum, and DETERMINE OUR NEW NORMAL!
I have seen the ramifications of:
-
Unaffordable and/or inaccessible housing, healthcare, and education.
-
Economic and social inequalities
-
Structural racism and marginalization of the minority
-
Unaccommodating educational environments
Which is why I DO support:
-
Free, Liberated, and sustainable education and healthcare
-
Safe, affordable, and accessible housing for ALL students
-
The Gender recognitions act
-
Reforming the disabled students' allowance
-
Advocating for student survivors of sexual violence and harassment
-
