Overview
This exhibition presents our journey, our journey as women, as immigrants, as adventurers, as artists, and as refugees.
We are two women, a Venezuelan and a Ukrainian, who left our home countries forced by different circumstances. Although our cultural backgrounds and ages vary, we noticed that we had similar struggles, hopes and a shared sense of purpose. Through sculpture, video installation and digital images, we have collaborated to tell a story through our work. We hope that this exhibition will strike a chord with others and generate a feeling of community and shared values.
Both artists met whilst studying together at Wimbledon College of Art. Carolina works in sculpture where she creates bronze pieces that are mostly inspired by the changing role of women in society and the aspirations for further change. Svitlana relies on digital images and her work combines technology and aesthetics.
Carolina Rodriguez Baptista is a Venezuelan artist who is studying MA Applied Imagination at CSM.
Svitalana Reinish is a Ukrainian artist who is studying MA Theatre and Live Performance Design at Wimbledon.
