Every month, we will be highlighting an artist from the Made in Arts London cohort, giving you a behind the scenes look at their creative process, inspirations, and more. Recently featured,?and kicking off the latest series on our Instagram, is Camberwell College of Art student, Ngai Ning Yu

Ngai Ning joined Made in Arts London (run by Art SU’s, Arts Programmer, Lotte Dawson) earlier this year, after being selected by a panel featuring Asma Istwani, mixed-media artist and founder of RIOT SOUP, multidisciplinary artist, Lyla Maeve and the 22/23 Union Affairs Officer, Ellie Short

Ngai Ning’s “paintings explore the concept of 'The Home' in relation to memory and the contrast of presence and absence in a space touched by human intervention. Her paintings of uninhabited places reveal traces of human presence in what was left behind. These lingering shadows, unmade bedclothes, curtains, door handles, and objects associated with domestic interiors comment on the fleeting nature of existence and the passing of time being imprinted in a physical way.”

Ngai Ning’s spotlight was filmed by student staff member Sophie Dudfield at the private view of her exhibition ‘In between what once was’, shown last month at the SU Gallery Space, Camberwell as part of our Project Spaces opportunity

Want to explore more of Ngai Ning’s ethereal art? Browse her work on Made in Arts London, follow her on Instagram (@ngaining_art) or see Ngai Ning’s work in person, this December in group exhibition 'Round Table',?at Belsize Community Library, 2nd?- 16th December 2023.

'Round Table' is a collection of artworks from young Hong Kong creatives who have come together to contemplate the complex journey of living abroad.?
