How did you first get involved in your sport?

I first got involved in fencing at school when I noticed it listed as an after-school activity. I signed up out of curiosity and very quickly found myself enjoying it far more than I expected. The club had a real sense of community, and I formed strong friendships there. My coach played a huge role too — he took me under his wing early on and encouraged me to push myself..

What is a typical week for you?

A typical week is a constant juggle between college, fencing, work, and recovery. I’m studying Fine Art, usually in college from 9–5 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. After lectures, I head to Brixton for fencing training from 7–9pm and fit in one-to-one lessons with my coach a couple of times a week. I also make time for physio to manage a past injury. On top of training and study, I work 2–3 nights a week across London nightclubs in content creation and management jobs. Balancing everything often means pulling all-nighters a few times a week just to keep up with coursework, work, and training. During competition season, my weeks get even busier. Thursday nights are spent packing, Friday mornings I’m catching flights to compete in overseas almost every weekend (competed in 17 different countries so far) and Sunday nights I’m back in London, often straight into my 10am lecture on Monday. It’s exhausting at times, but I love both my sport so it’s mostly just fun.

What are your greatest sporting achievements?

Some of my proudest achievements include becoming the 2023 National Champion and a three-time Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist, representing Team GB at the 2023 World and European Championships, and winning U23 Bronze in Sofia. This season, I’ve also claimed the Welsh Senior Open Championship and a National Senior Ranking Competition title - with hopefully more results to come while at UAL!
