This session is designed to help you explore the internet space and how to use it to exhibit your work. Learn from the iconic duo JODI, who have been using the internet since the early 90s. The session will be guided as a conversation between you (the student) and JODI so we highly recommend sending your questions over. Some questions that will be explored:

  • How do you approach the internet as a creative?
  • Why use the internet?
  • Is the internet a material?
  • Is the internet a space?
  • Are you a viewer or a user when experiencing net.art?

Students are invited to send their questions about using the internet in a creative practice before the event. You can send them to b.taylorsearle1@arts.ac.uk who will forward them to the artists.

Open to all creative disciplines.

About JODI
JODI (Joan Heemskerk and Dirk Paesmans) investigate and subvert conventions of the Internet, computer programs, and video and computer games since 1994. Radically disrupting the very language of these systems, including interfaces, commands, errors and code, JODI stages digital interventions that destabilize the relationship between computer technology and its users. Their works have been exhibited at Centre for Contemporary Art, Glasgow; Kunstverein Bonn; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Zentrum fur Kunst und Medietechnologie, Karlsruhe, Germany; and Documenta X, Kassel, Germany, among others.
