Join us at LCF for the first of our Quilting Bee* Workshops to create your own quilt patch and contribute to your UAL community quilt.
*What is a quilting bee? A social gathering where people can meet, share advice, and work together sewing quilts.
While sharing methods, activities, and services available to help you overcome burnout, we’ll go through some examples of quilts being used for social good and to promote change, looking at different traditional and non-traditional techniques people have used in quilting, before drafting a design and having a go at some sewing.
Use our provided materials or bring your own to craft a personal patch that represents methods and things that help you avoid or overcome burnout.
Our quilting bee workshops explore:
All sewing experience levels welcome - You don’t have to have all the answers or be an expert at sewing, or even create something aesthetically pleasing; it’s a quilt patch for you and a physical process to make a visual reminder. In the spirit of this collaborative endeavour, we’d ask you to share the patch you have made with us so we can use it to form a UAL Community Quilt.
You do not need to be an LCF student to attend this event; all UAL students are welcome. Please bring your UAL pass to access the room beyond the barriers.
This workshop is part of our Arts and Community programme, showcasing various methods of creative practice that promote social justice and enable individuals to connect with their communities through creative projects. It is also part of our Creative Wellbeing programme, which aims to provide attendees with space to think about wellbeing in connection with a sustained creative practice, and hopes to support you in building resilience for your future career.
