Dr. Nour Elhouda Souleh
I’m Dr. Nour Elhouda Souleh, a researcher, educator, and creative practitioner exploring intersections of decolonial scholarship, performance, and storytelling.
My work challenges dominant narratives and opens space for alternative knowledge-making through poetry, creative nonfiction, stand-up comedy, and performance art.
My doctoral research, Exploring Othering with Intersectional Feminist Aspirations: Between Lived Experiences and Stand-Up Comedy (Canterbury Christ Church University, 2022), bridges lived experience and theory, using humour and embodiment as tools for resistance and dialogue. My publication, Creative Nonfiction and Stand-up Comedy as Alternative Forms of Decolonial Scholarship (Decolonial Subversions, 2023), extends this inquiry.
As an English and ESOL Lecturer, I support students from diverse backgrounds in building confidence through language and trauma-informed practice.
My performance, Huia, is inspired by Marina Abramović’s The Artist Is Present, and reflects my belief that art and scholarship are mutually transformative.
