Overview
Maliha Abidi is an American multidisciplinary artist based in London, England. Working across painting, animation, publishing, and immersive installations, her practice explores migration, collective memory, and gender. Drawing on her experience moving from South Asia to North America at age 14, Abidi’s work examines how displacement shapes identity, belonging, and cultural memory.
She is the founder of Women Rise, an initiative for women’s rights and girls’ education, and BackPackX, a spatial computing platform for storytelling in underserved communities. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including in London, New York, Paris, Karachi, and Miami. Abidi was listed in Forbes 30 Under 30 (2025) and holds an MA from the Royal College of Art. Abidi is currently an MFA candidate at the University of Oxford.
She will joining with the Curation Society on the 13th of May for an open discussion with UAL students reflecting about their first steps in the Art World.
