Welcome to Arts SU's South Asian Heritage Month 2023 celebrations!

South Asian Heritage Month will be celebrated from 18th July - 17th August 2023, and we've begun our preparations. As it falls mostly over the summer break, we have planned to start our celebrations this term!

At Arts SU, we believe that it is really important to celebrate our members of South Asian heritage, as it a big part of the UK’s history. The South Asian diaspora is full of diverse and beautiful culture and history, and we want to honour those backgrounds and help others learn about them!

We are really excited to announce that we will be putting on two exhibitions in celebration of the month, themed around South Asian Heritage Month UK’s theme of ‘Stories To Tell’. 

The exhibitions are:

• ‘Stories To Tell: Through Our Eyes’: a series of large A2 poster prints of work by students of South Asian heritage in the Typo Cafe windows at London College of Communication.
• ‘Stories To Tell: Through Our Textiles’: an exhibition of South Asian inspired wearable textiles, such as fashion, costume and jewellery design, at the Lethaby Gallery in Central Saint Martins.
