With London freshers week coming up, it’s time to start thinking about what events you’ll be heading to. This is where you’ll meet lifelong mates, kick off your uni experience, and have a laugh for the next few years. But only if you put the work in, instead of watching Netflix.

And if you’ve been at uni for a few years now, don’t worry, there are some cracking events here for you too.

Below we’ve gathered some of the best student events in London that’ll blow your mind, help you make a friend or two, and leave you with memories that’ll put a smile on your face when you think back to them.

Astroworld - London's Biggest Freshers Party

When: Thursday 15th September 2022

Where: Lower Deck, Greenwich

Not everyone likes house tunes, though. So if you’re more into beats, bass, and flows, you might prefer the hip hop freshers event at Lower Deck. Lower Deck is one of the best London student bars, and it'll be booming hip hop, trap, afrobeats, bashment, and RnB tunes until the birds start to chirp. Have a laugh sinking a few too many drinks with 500 other wild students this freshers.

We Love London Freshers Ultimate Wristband

When: Saturday 17th September 2022

Where: multiple venues, London

Listen, we know how student life is. Eating Super Noodles, buying off-brand cans, and eating your fifth beans on toast of the week to save a few quid is pretty standard. So we thought we’d kick off the list with the best, most cost-effective London freshers week event(s).

The We Love London Freshers wristband is a brilliant value, granting entry to three events with 12,000 other students. If you’re looking to let loose, meet some new mates, have a laugh, get covered in foam, confetti, and dance under neon lights, without hurting your bank account, this is the one.

The Freshers Fun House @ Egg London!

When: Sunday 25th September 2022

Where: Egg London, London

If you want to do London freshers week properly, do it at Egg. For this event, expect a giant ball pit, three rooms of music, inflatables, glowsticks, free popcorn and candy floss, and a roof terrace and garden area to chill out in. When you inevitably make some new mates, get some neon face paint, then head over to the selfie photo booth to immortalise the night.

Soul Skate

When: Thursday 6th October 2022

Where: Rollernation, London

After freshers has calmed down and you’ve got a new group of mates, a little skating can be almost too fun. Let's face it, some of us just aren’t as graceful on the rink as others. But it’s a bloody good laugh. And when everyone finally gets the hang of it, it’s super satisfying. Furthermore, Soul Skate provides fresh funk and soul tunes, perfect for gliding your way around the rink like a seasoned pro before getting too cocky and wobbling like Bambi on ice.

Free Shakespeare Comedy Club

When: Monday 10th October 2022

Where: The Shakespeare Pub, London

When you’ve settled in a bit - and your liver needs a break from the booze and your legs need a break from dancing - comedy nights are an amazing way to spend your free time. Everyone loves a good laugh and you can go down with all your uni pals for a wholesome night out. Shakespeare Comedy Club has nights almost every day of the week, but if you’re absolutely skint, they come through with regular free nights too.

The Neuroscience of Creativity with Dr Jonathan Iliff

When: Tuesday 11th October 2022

Where: Juju's Bar And Stage, London

Studying something creative live writing, music, or art? Or maybe you have a creative hobby in your spare time? This talk on what creativity is, how it works, the different types of creativity, and how we can unlock our creative potential will be brilliant. Many people believe you’re born creative, but that’s not the case. And this talk with Dr Jonathan Iliff (a psychiatrist and medical doctor) can help your creative mind flourish.

England vs Iran - World Cup Group Game

When: Monday 21st November 2022

Where: Richmond Athletic Ground, Richmond

Experience the electric stadium atmosphere without hopping on a flight to Qatar at Richmond Athletic Ground. Just a short train journey from central London, this screening of the England vs Iran game will have a huge screen so you never miss a moment, and live DJs and entertainment before and after the game. You can also expect multiple bars, a huge heated tent (because you can never trust English weather), and food stalls. Running from 11:30 - 7:00, it's a solid day of fun with your mates.

You only do uni once, so it’s important to have a killer time. You don’t want to look back on these years and wish you’d had more fun instead of staying cooped up inside the entire time. And what’s so sick about London is that there genuinely is something for everyone!

Whether you’re looking for London freshers week events, gigs, club nights, comedy, singles nights, artsy events, foodie fests or something entirely different, we’ve got you.
