Arts Awards 2025 Report

Data, insights, stories and recommendations from Arts Awards 2025

Every year, the Arts Awards at University of the Arts London is a collaborative project with Arts SU recognises and celebrates students and staff who make significant positive impact to the overall student experience.

With nominations submitted by students and staff, the Arts Awards champions these outstanding contributions across a wide range of award categories. For the second-year running, the Arts SU has gathered these insights into the Arts Awards 2025 Report.

This year’s report brings together 456 nominations across 12 award categories. Compiled by Eleanor Smith and Lee Anderson of the Education Quality Team at Arts SU, the report analyses student insight gained through the Arts Awards nominations.

The purpose of the 2025 report is:

  • To present stories and data from nominations submitted across all UAL colleges and year groups and showcases students’ insights into their experience of teaching, learning and non-academic services.

  • To enable colleges, schools and staff to learn from best practice by sharing impactful examples that can drive wider improvements to the student-experience across UAL.

  • To propose three recommendations, grounded in insights shared by students through the nomination process and developed by the Arts SU Education Quality Team, to inform and support future UAL-led work in key areas.

We identified ten notable themes across student-submitted nomination this year:

  • Empathetic and responsive support

  • Personal, academic & creative development

  • Accessible teaching and learning

  • Specialist knowledge

  • Engaging approaches

  • Proactive feedback

  • Continuous engagement with student voice

  • Shared passion

  • Inclusive approaches, initiatives and spaces

  • Careers and employability

It also examines all 12 award categories that were open to nominations and provides a comparative analysis to the level of engagement we received from students and staff in the 2024 report. Meanwhile, selected student testimonials provide detailed insight into what students consider meaningful to them in teaching and learning, as well as their experience of non-academic specialist services.

Looking ahead, the findings offer a clear opportunity for growth. By acting on the recommendations, UAL can continue to build an environment where everyone feels supported, inspired and valued.

Thank you to Marina Marbella, Amy Vorasatit and Nyasha Takawira of Arts SU communications and design team for the final report design.
