Term 2 has been, to say the least; invigorating! For me and for the collective student experience.
Fighting for our community spaces!
In mid-February, we were hearing a lot of talk about the new LCC building. And although boasting world-class infrastructure, it was missing the beloved Darkroom bar. And so the team and I began our campaign
On 12th February, we began a petition for students and staff to sign to save the bar. As of today, it has amassed 1.106 signatures and more
We then used this as fuel to speak to key stakeholders. On the 9th of March, we marched to Steve Cross' office to give him 130 student and staff signed letters and ask him for a formal meeting to discuss strategy
On the 17th of March, we met with Steve and Paul Myers - director of change management. Students held them accountable by asking key questions around the decision. The meeting ended with them having agreed to engage in workshopping conversations around how to accommodate the bar space in the new building
Together, we can shift the tide!
Be SEAted for this one!
Together with Design School Rep Saksham Duggal, I shared a feedback form across UAL to all students to share insights on the new SEAtS application. Logging attendance on an institution wide interface should be seamless, yet with 80 responses and counting, it’s a very different story
Since the start of the winter term, the average rating for the SEAtS usage is 2.08/5
We are working on widening feedback for this issue so please use this link to register your feedback: Feedback for SEAtS Application – Fill in form
#represent
Creating space for students to lay bare their identities through their craft is so rewarding. Together with LCF and CSM officer Jianing and Ayon and the Arts Programme team, we bring to you the Mosaic of Becoming, a feature of 17 students sharing stories of their heritage, culture and home. Ayon and I are also facilitating Rooted not Rendered, an exhibition celebrating South Asian narratives at UAL! Find more info on our Events page
