I’m Georgia and I’m a third year sculptor student at Wimbledon and my aim as a Disabled Students Officer is to listen to the students of Wimbledon over this coming year and act on any issues they may be facing.
I want to push for online education to be more accessible for students, including those with learning difficulties, disabilities and mental health issues that may interfere with online based learning. Within this, I want to push for more availability for mental health support during Covid; as everyone’s case-by-case situation is very different I think various types of support is needed to help students through this new learning environment we find ourselves in.
I want to support students of Wimbledon affected by the reduced mobility on campus with the new one way systems due building works and COVID. I also want to help students with any issues they may be facing mentally and emotionally with course closures over the coming year be that anxieties or other related issues that may come up, I want students to know that I am here to help.
I want to push for better representation of disabled creators and designers at UAL be that from visiting artists, discussions with tutors and lecturers, and representation of disabled UAL students both online and on social media.
