As your elected Campaigns Officer for 20/21, I would like to take this opportunity to use my inside knowledge and experience when addressing issues at a national level. Graduating during COVID has given me the necessary respect and empathy to truly understand what students are going through right now, and I have seen and been subjected to the many failures of UAL and the government as a result of the pandemic.

As a working class, woman of colour, I understand how crucial it is to have marginalised voices at the table, and vow to collaborate with those who share the same struggle of representation in institutions. By giving all intersections a seat at the table, we can create equity within UAL, and make the noise necessary for those at the top to stop, listen and act.

As per my Campaigns manifesto and our SU goals , these issues are ingrained in society and government outside of UAL too;

  • Decolonising education and institutions
  • Seeing real representation of People of Colour- not just tokenism
  • Respect for international students, and fees to reflect
  • Post COVID commitments for graduates and students
  • Equity for all marginalised students, with especially disabled and trans students
