Henri Affandi

I’m Henri Affandi and I’m one of the last Fine Art students in Wimbledon.

We’re all aware of what this year means to Wimbledon. We’re undergoing a lot of change with entire pathway getting closed down and introducing a brand new one, all in the middle of a pandemic. I worked closely alongside the SU before, and as a Wimbledon Officer I can do a lot with that connection. My entire art practice is focused on amplifying the voices of the marginalised, and I’m going to make sure your voice is heard by UAL. My aim is to ensure everyone across the campus can get the most out of their learning experience this year, both online and offline.

Things I will be addressing:

  • Ensure workshops are open with technicians available at all times, throughout the week regardless of your studio days
  • Request better online support across all courses, making lecture recordings available for you to come back to at a later date
  • Lobby for longer opening hours since everyone is getting half the studio time compared to last year
  • Push for more diverse teaching staff and visiting guest speakers as well, making sure people from different ethnicities, sexual preference, and gender are all represented by the tutors who are teaching them

These are just some things I will be prioritising early on. There are obviously way more things I might not be aware of, so I encourage everyone to talk to me about it and I’ll get right on it.
