Make Up Social / Poetry and Performance Workshop

Join us for a fun social followed by a poetry workshop, hosted by your Trans Officer Kairo and LGBTQ+ Officer Justin

Date Friday 19 February 2021

Time 4pm - 6pm

Location Zoom

Overview

Tag-teaming for the first time, your Trans Students Officer Kairo Urovi (they/he) and your LGBTQ+ Students Officer Justin South (he/him) are bringing you a back to back digital bonanza of quizzes, socialising, make up, poems, and generally being really gay! In this vaguely two part session (you don’t need to attend both parts if you don’t want to, but we encourage it!) we’ll be bringing you a gentle hour of getting to meet other LGBTQ+ students, fun chatting and messing around with make up hosted by Kairo. Following will be a poetry and character development workshop hosted by Justin with a chance to share work. No prior experience is needed for either part of these sessions.

The makeup social will run from 4-5pm as a casual drop-in which you can join for as long or as little as you'd like. The poetry workshop will run from 5-6pm. This event is for LGBTQIA+ and questioning students as part of LGBTQ+ History Month at Arts SU.

What will you need?

  • For the make up workshop, please have your make up or anything you like to use to decorate your face. It’s useful to have some make up wipes, a spare towel you don’t mind getting dirty to rub your fingers or your brushes on, and a light and a mirror to see what you are doing

  • For the poetry workshop, please have pen/pencil, a marker pen and paper. If you would like to present work, feel free to bring something you have written

If you have any access requirements or questions, please get in touch prior to the event with a.rawat@su.arts.ac.uk
