'Removing the barriers to creative progress'

About Us

Creative Communities aims to create bridges between theories and practices across the full scope and offering of the University of the Arts. Regardless of your College, course or cohort, through Creative Communities we bring together and foster a fun and active space for learning and interaction; discussing and generating new cross-discipline and cross-organisation ideas and projects; a safe and supportive environment for encountering other attitudes and perspectives on art and related practices; and the chance to explore both theory and practice in art. As a member or citizen of our Creative Communities, you will have the opportunity to expand your networks, knowledge, skills and collaborations, and become a resident in your own personal neighbourhood of creative professionals.

We list many activities and events on the Arts SU website calendar, through a number of social media platforms/messengers and via email. All our events are brought together on our website and synchronized app (iPhone/Android).

We hold 'Creative Cat Institute' at the Institute Bar, UCLU* every Tuesday in term time, to encourge conversation and exchange between members to start creative conversations and the conditions for creative practice. You can come and relax and chat with people, but we have a regular events programme including PMS (Poetry. Mythology and Storytelling) series, our Systems Symposia and our Axiology seminars for those who are interested.

Every Wednesday, we link up with the Sports Teams for their social events.

Our regular social (TNC - Thursday Night soCial) is for members to mingle with students across London and beyond UAL and runs on a Thursday night from 7pm-12pm. These are held off-UAL premises at the University of London's UCLU facilities, and you are welcome either to join us for the evening, or stop by on the way to going out to other events.
