School Rep Training

School Rep Training is mandatory for all School Reps and is delivered in two parts: part one takes place before the end of Summer Term and part two takes place at the start of the following Autumn Term.

Part One (end of Summer term) is an introductory training session that provides School Reps with a broad overview of the Arts SU, the expectations of the School Rep role and an opportunity to build relationships with other School Reps.

Part Two (start of Autumn term) delves deeper into the School Rep role, covering how to gather and raise feedback, the structures and processes of UAL and opportunities to meet key staff from the university.

Rep Conference

This academic year, we're going to be bringing School Reps and Course Reps from across all of UAL to our first ever Rep Conference.

This will be an opportunity for School Reps and Course Reps to learn new skills, share best practice, meet new people and deepen your understanding of life at UAL.

We will be releasing more information at the end of Term 1.

Keep an eye out for more information arriving soon about how to get a ticket.

Rep Newsletter

Each month, the Arts SU staff team send out a newsletter to all Course Reps with all the latest news and opportunities.

Wellbeing

Being a Course Reps can be a highly rewarding and impactful experience, both for the rep themselves and the students they support on their course.

However, if at any you feel overwhelmed by the role or simply need support, please contact the Education Quality team at coursereps@su.arts.ac.uk.

Academic societies

Academic societies are a way to build community, create peer support networks, and develop your practice area. Have a look at our existing societies and reach out to the activities team if you’d like to start your own

Run in an SU Election

Feel like you’ve got what it takes to lead your Student’s Union and represent UAL students? Arts SU elections are open to everyone and include part-time College and Liberation roles. Even if you don’t want to run, you can still vote!

Find out more on the elections page.

Academic campaigns

As a Course Rep, you are listening to students, sharing their feedback with staff and this helps to create positive change accross UAL. If there is a piece of feedback that you find cannot be implemented or resolved through the usual process, there are Arts SU teams who can work with Course Reps to build campaigns and lobby the University for change. This can be on a course, university or national level.

We’ve won some pretty big campaign wins in the past, such as freezing fees, anonymous marking, changes to extenuating circumstances, free Wednesday afternoons and £250,000 for mental health funding!
