Recognising and representing the diverse student community at UAL is a fundamental part of our work at Arts SU. Our mission is to understand the inequality and disparities that exist for our students in arts education and wider society so that we can respond. We want our work to provide a voice and platform to marginalised student communities, actively educating and addressing the barriers that exist.

For Nyoush (2023) is dedicated to Nyousha Movagharzadeh, a young artist and former CSM student who passed on after a period of illness in 2019. This work speaks to the overwhelm that people living with chronic conditions face on a regular basis, from monitoring multiple conditions, juggling treatments, managing relationships and attempting to preserve a sense of self inside a body that suddenly feels foreign. "For me, the greatest challenge in having multiple chronic conditions is the loss of sovereignty. I am constantly fatigued, in pain and saddened that there is plenty my body won't do any more. It is very isolating."
