This fund has been developed to support students who may be facing financial barriers in progressing or completing their work — whether thats covering material costs, production expenses, or other essential elements of your project.

At LCF, creative ideas are everywhere. But turning those ideas into finished work often comes with real financial pressure. This fund is designed to help ease that pressure and support you in bringing your project to life.

Why This Fund Matters

For many students, especially in creative disciplines, the cost of materials, production, and development can quickly add up. These costs can sometimes limit what is possible within a project.

The LCF Student Project Fund aims to:

  • Support students who are facing financial barriers
  • Enable students to progress or complete their academic work
  • Reduce pressure around material and production costs
  • Ensure that access to creative opportunities is more equitable

This is not just about funding — its about making sure that your ideas are not held back by cost.

What Can the Fund Support?

The fund can be used to support a range of project-related costs, including:

  • Materials (fabric, printing, components, etc.)
  • Production costs
  • Technical or workshop-related expenses
  • Small-scale prototyping or development
  • Other essential costs directly linked to your academic project

Each successful applicant may receive up to £150 reimbursement towards eligible expenses.

While sustainability is not a required criterion, thoughtful use of resources and sustainable approaches will be positively considered where relevant.

Who Can Apply?

Applications are open to current LCF undergraduate and postgraduate students working on their academic projects.

We particularly encourage applications from students who may be experiencing:

  • Financial hardship
  • Additional responsibilities (e.g. caring responsibilities)
  • Barriers that may impact their ability to complete their work

Due to the limited budget, not all applicants will be able to receive funding. Priority will be given to students who demonstrate clear financial need and project impact.

What Will You Need to Apply?

The application is short and straightforward. You will be asked to:

  • Describe your current academic project
  • Explain how the funding will be used
  • Outline the materials or resources required
  • Reflect on how this funding would help you overcome financial barriers

This is an opportunity to clearly communicate your idea and show how support at this stage would make a difference.

Application Process

Applications are open now and will close on: 25th May, 9:00am

After the deadline:

  • Applications will be reviewed by Arts SU
  • Successful applicants will be contacted in June 1st
  • Students will then submit receipts
  • Reimbursement (up to £150) will be processed in June

Ready to Apply?

Take this as a chance to invest in your work and remove some of the barriers along the way.
